Wow. Last post was 12/31. It’s been a busy 2010 thus far. Our renter bailed on their lease in December. We spent over a month trying to find a new one. During that time Phoenix had some serious rain. The roof of the rental sprung a leak and resulted in a lengthy and expensive repair. That whole mess was finally resolved and then we all got sick (RSV). That kept us all down for over two weeks. Things are finally back to normal and we’re getting caught up on our pictures. Here are just a few of the many posted at Flickr.
On Wednesday we had our 28 week ultrasound. The baby (code named ‘Chewy’) is doing well. He’s measuring a bit big for 28 weeks and of course he’s breech (like his sister). He’s due end of May.
He spent most of the ultrasound moving. A good 3-D image was not in the cards. This image was the best the technician could do considering he had both hands, both feet and the chord in his face.
A decent storm blew threw Arizona last weekend. Flagstaff got up to 2 feet of snow. That doesn’t happen very often here, so we took advantage of the opportunity and took Maggie to see her first snow.
She was a bit apprehensive at first. The combination of 28 degree temperature and white-blanketed landscape must be disorienting at first. Debra and I kept stumbling and sinking into the snow. Every time this happened Maggie got upset. Eventually she warmed up to the situation and did seem to enjoy watching Daddy make a snow angel.

Marissa and John hosted the Ellis clan Sunday for a swim party. Given the 115 degree high, it was a great way to spend the day. Maggie got to spend the day with her cousins Reef and Xavier. I think they will be a close knit group as they get older.
Reef napped through part of the afternoon, but eventually joined the rest of his cousins in the pool.

It’s been a few weeks since our last post. We’ve been busy-busy with family events, baby activities and CA trip preparation. Here’s your long-awaited blog update.
Maggie turned 9 months on June 27 and had her 9 month check-up on July 3. She was a whopping 16 pounds, 26 inches. Amy (her pediatrician) says all is well. No teeth yet, but we are very close.
For a few weeks Maggie has been able to move forward when motivated. It wasn’t crawling. I’d call it slithering. The last few days she has definitely starting crawling. Debra calls it creeping. We’ve been anxious for crawling for some time, but now that it’s here we realize we are completely unprepared!
On 7/6 we took Maggie to her first D-Backs game with the Kontz family. There was so much for her to see and hear. She played with the Kontz kids, talked to the jumbo-tron and ate way too much Coldstone ice cream.
This week and next we’re busy planning and packing for our 16 day driving trip through California. We’ll be visiting friends and family all over the state.
Finally, Debra has been hard at work on her 365 photo project. Stop by and see her wonderful pictures.
Maggie turned three weeks old yesterday. We had a good week. She reached her birth weight last Monday (6lbs) and seems to be growing by the day. The common theme of the week was sleep….or lack there of. Maggie had a few nights where she slept for blocks of three to four hours. The other nights she was up almost hourly. Last night was our best night. She slept two blocks of four hours. All things considered, Debra is holding up quite well. While I’ve been getting more sleep than Debra, you can see (below) the sleeplessness shows.
Debra’s gotten better at sleeping when Maggie sleeps. Maggie is starting to sleep well in the bassinet, but she loves sleeping on or near Debra. I’ve taken to sneaking in and watching them nap. It’s precious.
I’m off to assemble the new Winnie the Pooh swing. I love being a dad
